Improving Vocabulary through V-A-K learning model for Junior High School Students

Vocabulary is an important part in the process of learning a new language. The more vocabulary students have, the more questions they can answer. Junior high school students aged 12 to 15 years old are required to memorize many kind of words to master the materials taught by their teacher. However, English is rarely practiced, even in the classroom. A teacher needs focus to have a variety of learning models in the class. Learning process could be conducted by combining learning, one of them is V-A-K learning styles model. V-A-K learning model is a model to teach vocabulary in the class which facilitates students’ style in receiving lessons. The researcher intends to resolve vocabulary related problems within Junior High School level. The methodology of the research is classroom action research. Test, observation, and documentation will be conducted to collect the necessary data for this research.

Umairah Tiffany is an English language teacher at Junior High School 3 Entikong currently. She is continuing her study at the Master of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language Study Program, Tanjungpura University. She teaches students located around West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Her interest is in English Language Teaching.
